Description
Here in Colorado we see the regular cycle of El Nino/La Nina years and there are no obvious evidences to temperature tendencies. However, I made a second visit this year to Equatorial Africa and witnessed the receding glaciers there. This phenomenon is more related to reduced precipitation than higher temperature, but it is nonetheless a climate change. It was amazing to see how far a glacier was from a mountaineering hut that was erected at the time on its edge. Both trips, first to Mt Kenya and second to the Rwenzori range, felt like a farewell to the era of equatorial glaciers.
